HP’s Digital Imaging Monitor utility, bundled with many HP printer drivers, is also available on a disc that ships with some HP printers and digital cameras. The utility adds functionality and convenience to HP devices, but since it launches at startup by default and runs as a background process, you might find that it slows down your business computer system. This software is not a necessary component to your office printer installation, so you can either stop it from running at startup or remove it altogether to save disk space.
Remove Digital Imaging Monitor from Startup
1.Log in to your computer using an administrator account.
2.Click Start, type “msconfig” (without quotes here and throughout) in the Search box and press “Enter” to launch the System Configuration Utility.
3.Click the “Startup” tab, uncheck “HP Digital Imaging Monitor” and click “OK.” The next time you reboot the computer, the utility will no longer load at startup.
Uninstall Digital Imaging Monitor
1.Make sure you’re logged in with an administrator account.
2.Click Start, type “appwiz.cpl” in the Search box and press “Enter.”
3.Select “HP Digital Imaging Monitor” and click the “Uninstall” button. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the removal. Reboot your system afterward, if prompted.
Tip
- You can also disable the utility on demand by killing its process. Press “Ctrl-Alt-Delete” and click “Start Task Manager.” Find “hpqtra08.exe” in the list of running processes and click “End Process.” However, the next time you start the computer, the utility will reload unless you have disabled it.
